Description

MM Thixo has been designed to produce an attractive buttery consistency within seconds of being added to liquid silicone rubber.

Once the right texture has been achieved, the silicone can be used for vertical or ceiling applications, or to create a thin membrane around the desired element.

MM thixo is to be used with MM903 or MM922 silicone. However, it can also be used with other condensation-polymerizing silicones.

In this case, it is always necessary to carry out small-scale tests before using it with new RTV silicones.

For processing, it is important to follow the recommended order of addition, as this allows the catalyst to be fully dispersed in the liquid rubber before thixotropy is generated.

Features

Implementation

Ratio: +/- 2% (e.g. 100 g silicone + 2 g thixo)

Color: clear, colorless to pale yellow liquid.

Relative density at 25°C (gcm-3): 0.90

Viscosity at 25°C (mPa.s): 800

Service life: 12 months from production date

Mix the silicone with the quantity of catalyst

When the mixture is well blended, add about 2% of the thixo to the silicone rubber. (2% generates thixotropy in 2 minutes)

Brush-like or softer thixotropy can be achieved by adding 0.5 to 1.5% MM thixo. Allow to stand for a few minutes, then test on a vertical piece of cardboard or similar substrate before use to ensure that adequate thixotropy has been achieved.

Once you’re happy with the texture, you can start working.

If you feel you need to “smooth” the surface, a little soap on your finger will do the trick.

The product should be stored in its original packaging between 15°C and 25°C.
